The HERA Women’s Cancer Foundation proudly co-sponsors the first Ovarian Cancer Summit in Denver, CO on September 15, 2012 at the University of Denver. The Summit is presented by the Ovarian Cancer Task Force which includes HERA, the Colorado Ovarian Cancer Alliance (COCA), the Cheryl Shackelford Foundation, and the Sue DiNapoli Foundation. The conference theme of “Information, Hope, Strength” will be reflected in the variety of topics presented including the latest in ovarian cancer research, genetic testing, nutrition, healing, and more.
“HERA is so proud to be partnering with our sister non-profits in Colorado to raise awareness about the symptoms of ovarian cancer,” says HERA ED, Meg Steitz. “While each of us has our own niche, our work together is crucial to helping save women’s lives. The Summit grew out of our collective dedication to empower women and their families, and the Task Force is prepared to take the lead in educating the community about ovarian cancer.”
The Summit is open to the general public but is geared towards ovarian cancer survivors, their caregivers, family, and friends. The day will feature such prominent national speakers as Dr. Laura Shawver (The Clearity Foundation), Dr. Monique Spillman (CU School of Medicine and 1st recipient of HERA’s Sean Patrick Multidisciplinary Collaborative Grant), and Dr. Nimesh Nagarsheth (Mt. Sinai Hospital), one of 6 gynecologic oncologists that make up the rock band, N.E.D. The event will be held at the University of Denver’s Knoebel School of Hospitality on Saturday, September 15 from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.
