Escape from Granogue Mountain Bike Race

The Mountain Bike Community partners with HERA for some bike racing action!

Escape from Granogue is one of the finest mountain bike races in the East! The race event will take place on the Granogue Estate in Montchanin, Delaware on Saturday, May 24th.  The first race will begin at 9am.  The course is on classic Northern Delaware mountain bike trails, featuring many technical sections held on a private estate.  There will be various beginner categories, sport categories and expert/elite categories.  There will also be a marathon race for riders who want to go the extra miles. 

The race promoters are a community of people, the racing group, who wish to honor their friend and fallen rider Andrew Mein.  Mein was the founder of Wooden Wheels Mountain Bike Team.  The racing group promoters include Wooden Wheels, the Secret Henry’s Team, Charm City Cycling, First State Velo Sport, The Delaware Cyclocross Coalition of Delaware and Visit PA.com.

The racing group is committed to HERA Women’s Cancer Foundation.  Proceeds from the race registration will be donated to HERA.  HERA ambassadors, Team Bury the Dragon, will be present at the event to raise ovarian cancer awareness.  HERA will also be selling raffle tickets.  Raffle prizes include of some of the finest swag on earth.  In 2007, the racing group’s Escape From Granogue helped HERA raise over $1500.
