HERA Foundation volunteers announced today they received over $2300 in donations from the Escape from Granogue Mountain Bike Race.  100% of the funds raised will go to the HERA Women’s Cancer Foundation.

Companies such as Independent Fabrication, Hoss Technical Gear, White Industries, Gripped Films, Ride Your Bicycle, Shenandoah Mountain Touring, Montrail, and Gore Bicycle Cables provided thousands of dollars worth of merchandise for HERA volunteers to raffle off at the event.  The promoters of the race, The Racing Group, donated a portion of all registration fees to the team.  Dansko also made a financial contribution to match the volunteer hours their employees donated to the event.

The event took place on the Granogue Estate in Montchanin, Delaware on Sunday, May 24th.  The annual event drew mountain bike enthusiasts from all over the region as it featured many technical sections held on a private estate.  There were various beginner categories, sport categories and expert/elite categories.  There was also a marathon race for riders who wanted to go the extra miles.

About the racing group:
The race promoters are a community of people who wish to honor their friend and fallen rider Andrew Mein.  Andrew was a stalwart in the mountain bike community and a founder of the Wooden Wheels Mountain Bike Team.  The racing group cherishes the opportunity to give back to the sport of cycling by holding this event.  The team is comprised of some of the finest folks at Wooden Wheels, the Secret Henry’s Team, The Twin-Six Factory Team,  Charm City Cycling, First State Velo Sport, The Delaware Cyclocross Coalition of Delaware and Visit PA.
