Rock climb and make a difference in the world!

REI, Black Diamond & Metro DC’s great climbing gyms, Earth Treks & Sportrock, are teaming up to fight ovarian cancer.  We've got a month-long festival, Climb For Life to support the HERA foundation, a non-profit organization which empowers women, the medical industry & communities in their fight against ovarian cancer. Registration fees & donations support ovarian cancer research at Johns Hopkins University. Here’s some of what you get for $30.

The low-down: It's a lot for only $30 but we're on a mission. We want to spread awareness of ovarian cancer and help find a cure. We can help women and their families who are battling this disease. Ovarian cancer is often called a silent killer. It's not. It has symptons and it's our mission to let everyone - women, girls and the men that love them – know what's at stake.

What is HERA? –  HERA stands for Health, Empowerment, Research and Awareness.  It is non-profit named after the Greek Goddess who gave women a voice.  Their mission: to stop the loss of mothers, daughters, wives and girl friends from ovarian cancer through education, awareness and funding of research at Johns Hopkins University.

How it works: When you register for Climb For Life,  your $30 will be used to support scientists at Johns Hopkins.  You can also raise additional funds by asking friends, family, co-workers and neighbors to sponsor you. It's easy.  We promise.  For those of you that go the extra mile to bring in donations, we've got a few nice things to thank you with.
