The Big Kick-Off - Meet and Greet
at REI Fairfax

Meet your fellow climbers, and HERA's founder and inspirational leader, Sean Patrick. Scientists from Johns Hopkins will update us on their work and we'll have a special climbing clinic with Katie Brown, a Black Diamond pro-athlete. Don't forget to pick up your registration packet and we'll have a special announcement regarding our Where in the World is Stanley the Pig contest!
March 1st
Climbers' Festival at Sportrock, Sterling
12:00 – 7:00 PM
Pro climbers will be here all day offering free advice and clinics. New to climbing? Check out Sportrock’s Learn to climb class plus give-aways and raffles from top outdoor manufacturers. Food, music, and a whole lot of fun. Registration packets will be available.

Challenge yourself physically and be part of something more. See how much money you or your team can raise! Climb 2x at all Earth Treks, 3x at Sportrock gyms or become a member and climb all month long.

Basic Self Rescue Class at REI Fairfax
7:00 – 9:00 PM
Taught by AMG certified instructors from REI Outdoor School. Class size is limited so reserve early. There's a $10 donation to HERA suggested, (class is regularly $50). Basic belay & knot skills required. Call REI Fairfax Customer Service 571-522-6568. You must mention you are with Climb4Life

Eric Hörst Presentation at REI Rockville
7:00 – 8:30 PM
Author, climber, and photojournalist Hörst will offer some great tips on training and a look at his US Rock Tour slide show. He's widely recognized for his innovative practice methods and training tools, with over 30 years of climbing experience.

"Summit El Cap" & Awards Ceremony at Earth Treks, Rockville
12:00 – 8:00 PM
The closing event for C4L Metro DC 2008, "Summit El Cap" is a friendly competition with each route or bouldering problem worth 100 or 50 feet. See how high up our symbolic El Capitan you can climb! We'll have clinics with our guest pro-climber, great prizes for top fundraisers and top climbers who've raised a minimum of $100, food from Noodles & Co., and Clipper City Brews. And finally… we'll find out where in the world Stanley's gotten off to!
