6th Annual Climb4LifeSM Salt Lake

Factoids

What is the history behind this event?
In 2001, Sean Patrick, an ovarian cancer survivor and climber and a small group planned to climb in Yosemite in September to raise $$ and awareness for the disease. Those plans got short circuited when Sean was flight-for-lifed out of Colorado in July of 2001. During the month in the hospital and 4 months recuperating, Sean had the opportunity to speak with climber friends and survivors, and the Ovarian Cancer Climb for Life was born. The Hera Foundation organized the event, and proceeds benefited the Johns Hopkins Ovarian Cancer Initiative.

Why Salt Lake City?
There are a stunning array of climbing areas close by - Logan Canyon, Little Cottonwood, Big Cottonwood, American Fork and Maple Canyon to name a few.

Variety - there are over 1600 routes that range from 10 pitch 5.6 trad climbs to heinous overhanging 5.13-5.14 sport routes and everything in between.

It is easy to get to. Plus there are good accommodations and camping and the climbing scene is awesome.
