Supply List
Weather at Smith Rock/Central Oregon in May is unpredictable at best.
You could be basking in the sun, sheltering against some windy gusts,
or grabbing for a rain jacket in the midst of a spring sprinkle. Most of all,
we want you to be comfortable during your day at the crag. You are ultimately the
best judge of what you will and will not need for the weekend, but you will be
well-prepared if you consider the list below.
With that in mind, here are some items you might want to plan on stashing in your pack:
- T-Shirts/Tank tops
- Lightweight long-sleeved shirt(s)
- Shorts/cropped pants
- Lightweight long pants
- Warm pair(s) of pants for evenings
- Fleece jacket or other warm long-sleeved top
- Down jacket, windproof fleece or other extra warm top
- Waterproof (preferably lightweight) jacket/pants
- Visor/baseball cap for during the day
- Wool or fleece hat and/or gloves
- Sunglasses, sunscreen, chapstick with sunscreen
- Comfortable hiking boots or shoes with good tread for scrambling over rocks
- Small pack for water, lunch, snacks, gear and extra clothing
- 2 1-quart water bottles (at least)
- A climbing helmet!
