Partners in Action Program
What's the Partners in Action program?
The goal of the HERA Partners in Action (PIA) program is to raise awareness of ovarian cancer symptoms while generating funds for the HERA Foundation’s OSB1 scientific grant program, the HERA community grant program and the public education programs conducted by the nonprofit.
Getting involved is simple but the return is without limits; the PIA program is a way for your company, staff and customers to touch millions of lives around the globe:
- Women with ovarian cancer and the people close to them
- Scientists devoting their lives to researching reliable detection methods and better treatment
- Local ovarian cancer groups who support patients and their families
And finally …
- Young girls at risk whose lives can be spared through increased awareness, which brings about early detection methods and advancements toward a cure.
Step 1: Becoming a Partner
The HERA Partners in Action (PIA) program raises awareness of ovarian cancer
symptoms while
generating funds for HERA Foundation’s OSB1 scientific grant
program, the HERA Foundation
community grant program and public education
programs conducted by the nonprofit.
Companies and organizations get involved in three ways:
- Product Partners:
Designate existing products or creating new
products that donate a portion of sales toward HERA. These are
referred to as “giveback” items.
- Product & Awareness Partners:
Raising awareness of HERA and
ovarian cancer through hangtags on clothing or special products
designed with the HERA message.
- Event Partners:
Conduct events that raise funds for HERA and include
an awareness component that enables HERA to deliver its ovarian cancer
message to the public.
Step 2: Getting the Word Out
HERA provides partners with hangtags that accomplish two important goals:
- Empower the customer by making them aware of ovarian cancer symptoms and other important facts about the disease.
- Make customers feel good about their purchase, letting them know that a portion of the money they spend will be aiding in the fight against ovarian cancer. When they spend, they save … lives!
HERA wants to see partners’ products fly off the shelves so HERA can aid scientists in wiping out ovarian cancer. HERA helps to promote PIA partner products through targeted public relations outreach, e-blasts, promotion at HERA’s Climb4Life events, exposure via media partners and on the Web.

Step 3 – Reap the Rewards
HERA’s current partners are some of the most prominent members of the outdoor industry, so your company will be aligned with industry leaders. In addition, affiliating your company with an important women’s health issue promotes goodwill among employees and staff and tells customers that you care about their well-being.

“The climbing industry is known for its strength of community. The HERAbiner allows Petzl to involve its retailers and customers in supporting the HERA Foundation and that’s how a strong community functions successfully -- by reaching out, involving others, and making a difference.”
John Evans, Director of Marketing, Petzl, USA
“We build ropes that protect our customers’ safety, so for BlueWater the HERA rope is a natural extension of our daily mission, since HERA protects women’s safety. Too many lives have been impacted by cancer. By working with HERA and with our customers, we can make a difference.”
Scott Newell, CEO BlueWater Ropes
“When we started manufacturing the HERA shoe in our US factory, it became clear: these shoes are going to do more than help women perform on the rock, they’re going to help raise awareness and save women’s lives.”
